Did you know?

It is recommended that curtains should be cleaned regularly at least once a year as part of your spring clean practice. Curtains are the first barrier in our home to come into contact with contaminants blown in through openings in our home.

Contaminants found present in curtains range from dust, pollen, dust mites, smoke, mould, mildew, formaldehyde, pathogens and dander just to name a few. When the curtains are moved these contaminants become airborne and can trigger chronic allergic reactions in some people. Symptoms include asthma attack, coughing, sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, wheezing and allergic conjunctivitis.

Most people do not realise this and have curtains that is 5 years or older that has not been professionally cleaned.

On the Gold Coast our curtains are exposed to higher level of moisture as compared to homes further inland. This promotes the growth of pathogens and mould spores in the curtain. Remember mould spores can be present before they become visible.
